....Networking opportunities coupled with free stuff brought out the crowds Thursday at Business EXPO ’05.

....While many booths at the convention center contained the typical table with materials and free magnets, some companies dipped deep into their creative minds to draw a crowd.

The Blackberry Press booth featured musician/employee Sean Jackson. Jackson is an information technology and animation specialist who is also a member of the band Finest Grain.

“We’ve only had a few people yelling ‘Freebird,’” joked Karen Strum, a Web designer for the design and marketing group.
Strum said the decision to have Jackson perform came from the company’s president, Christina Deegan.

“She wanted to display the talents of the employees,” Strum said.
Deegan and her company are heavily involved in the Business EXPO. The company designed the EXPO Web site and all the marketing items used.
Jackson, who is accustomed to performing with his band, said playing for the EXPO was nice.

“I’m providing the background noise,” he said.
